David Bakhtiari Issues Strong Statement After Green Bay Packers Draft His Replacement
Mark Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Free agent offensive tackle David Bakhtiari issued a statement on X following the Green Bay Packers decision to draft his replacement for the upcoming season. The Packers made a tough choice to release Bakhtiari earlier this offseason.

The Packers needed flexibility for their offensive line without Bakhtiari. Rasheed Walker is expected to play at left tackle. However, the team reportedly would like to see Zach Tom move to the center. The Packers selected Jordan Morgan, who can play offensive tackle or guard, with the No. 25 pick.

The Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Morgan

Per Robin Adams with GH, despite Packers fans hoping for Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean, the Packers selected Morgan as a possible long-term solution after losing Bakhtiari:

“While Love was, for the most part, held upright by his offensive line in 2023 (30 sacks in 17 games), Walker struggled early in the season before he started to play more consistently late. There were times during games that the 2022 seventh round pick was benched in favor of Yosh Nijman, who signed with the Carolina Panthers this offseason.

Obviously, the Packers were looking for more consistent production at left tackle. With the 25th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they selected Jordan Morgan, an offensive tackle from Arizona.”

David Bakhtiari issues a statement

Bakhtiari is currently rehabbing before the 2024 season. While he knows his time with the Packers is over, he still has feelings for the team that drafted him in 2013. Bakhtiari wished Morgan the best with the Packers:

“Let’s go!!!! Good luck to Jordan Morgan. Represent the position, town, and G with pride,” Bakhtiari wrote.
