Colts WR clarifies comments on lack of targets

Indianapolis Colts wideout Michael Pittman Jr. clarified his comments about his involvement in the offense Wednesday, three days after he spoke out following the team's 39-38 loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

The 2020 second-round pick turned heads on Sunday when he said after the defeat that the team "didn't target (him) today, for whatever reason" and "maybe I'm not a big part of the offense."

Pittman Jr. tied for a season-low five targets against Cleveland and had just two receptions. One of the catches went for a 75-yard score.

The performance against the Browns came one week after the 26-year-old had season bests in targets (14) and receiving yards (109), while matching his high mark in receptions (nine). The Week 6 target and reception totals were both tied for the third most of his career, while the 109 yards were the fourth most in his three-plus seasons.

Pittman Jr. leads the Colts in targets (65), catches (42) and receiving yards (489) through seven games and is tied for the team lead with a pair of touchdown receptions.

Per ESPN's Stephen Holder, the USC product is "known as a fiery competitor who often is involved in on-field confrontations with opponents."

Though Sunday's comments from Pittman Jr. weren't a good look, he owned up to his words and appears to put the issue to rest.
