Chris Board Reunites With the Baltimore Ravens
Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots waived special teams standout Chris Board at the start of NFL free agency. Eight days later, Board is back in his original NFL home. According to reports, Board has agreed to return to the Baltimore Ravens.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was the first to report the news.

Board is a six-year NFL veteran. He signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State in 2018. Board played his first four seasons in Baltimore. He then played for the Detroit Lions (2022) and New England Patriots (2023) for one season each.

New England used Board as strictly a core special teams player last season. He played only one defensive snap in 2023. The Patriots could be turning away from devoted core special teams players, or at least as many of them, in the post-Belichick era.

Chris Board appeared in all 17 games his lone season with the New England Patriots. According to Patriots salary cap expert Miguel Benzan, waiving him created an additional $1.045 in cap space for New England. Details of his new deal with Baltimore have yet to be released.
