Dallas Mavericks: Kendrick Perkins Reveals 1 Shortcoming That Would Have Made Kyrie Irving the ‘Best in the Game’
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Without a doubt, Kyrie Irving is one of the greatest ever to play the game. But for former Oklahoma City Thunder center and NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins , the Dallas Mavericks star has one shortcoming that prevented him from being the best.

Just recently, the Mavs lost Game 4 of their series against the Los Angeles Clippers with a score of 116-111 . Both Paul George and James Harden showed up by dropping 33 points each. The former shot almost 58 percent from the field, while the Beard connected 70 percent of his field goals in 40 minutes on the court. Ivica Zubac made 13 points and four rebounds, while Terance Mann added 11 points.

The Mavericks, on the other hand, saw Irving finish the game with 40 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. MVP-candidate Luka Doncic tallied 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Meanwhile, Derrick Jones Jr. contributed 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Clippers established a huge lead that was almost eliminated by Irving and the Mavs after the first half. But even without Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles held on to grab the win and even the series against Dallas. As such, the two teams will return to Crypto.com Arena where the Clippers will host Game 5.

Kendrick Perkins Reveals One Shortcoming That Would Have Made Dallas Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving Best in the Game

Among those who have given their reactions to Irving’s monster Game 4 performance is Kendrick Perkins. In a tweet he posted on X:

“Man if Kyrie was 6ft 6 would go down as best in game,” Perkins tweeted.

Over the course of 58 games during the regular season, Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest. The Mavs’ All-Star guard is also shooting almost 50 percent from the field, 41 percent from deep, and 90 percent from the free throw line.

With the series now tied at two games  per team, no one can predict who’ll come out on top in the end. But if Irving continues to play this well, he might be the factor that’ll lead Dallas to victory, even if he wasn’t as tall as Perkins wished he could be.
