Two Georgia Bulldogs headline early 2025 NFL Draft PFF big board
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Scouts, evaluators, and fans are already thinking about the 2025 NFL Draft. After a hectic 2024 NFL Draft, in which six quarterbacks were taken in the first round, all eyes are on how next year's class could shake out. The early thought is that Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck will be the first or second passer off the board.

Beck opted to return to Georgia for his senior season this fall despite buzz he could make his way into the first-round of this past draft. The 6'4", 215-pounder was magnificent in his first season, completing 72.4% of throws for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. PFF's first 2025 big board ranked Beck as the 11th-best prospect.

Beck wasn't alone as a Bulldogs 2025 NFL Draft favorite. Junior safety Malaki Starks quickly made waves as a freshman in 2022, leading the defense in snaps and totaling eight combined interceptions and forced incompletions. Starks is ranked 14th on the 2025 PFF big board.

The safety position rarely earns a first-round pick in the modern NFL. Teams have opted against single-high looks in favor of Vic Fangio's Cover-2 heavy scheme. This prevents big plays and forces offenses to execute a longer drive.

Someone like Starks can buck the trend after a safety failed to be taken in the top 32 picks of the 2024 class. He's fast, instinctive, a terrific run defender, and a legitimate coverage threat. With 120 tackles over two years and more athleticism than most NFL starting safeties, Starks looks close to a lock to make it into the first next April.

Beck is in a great spot as well. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders is a much different but still highly talented QB prospect. People will hand-wring over the details of Sanders' maturity and personality, but he has the persona to handle the pressure of the NFL.

Beck has a skill set that is easy to project, though. A good athlete with great accuracy to all three levels, Beck must show whether he can be a natural playmaker under pressure. If he can, there's some Drake Maye to his game, and Maye just went third overall.
